Krumm Road intersects with Meramec Bottom Road immediately west of Interstate 55. The trailhead parking lot is located a short distance south down Krumm Road. Holzer Park Road intersects with Meramec Bottom Road west of Wells Road. The trailhead parking lot is located a short distance south down Holzer Park Road. Water and restrooms are available in Susan Park located north on Wells Road. This trail segment is located within St. Louis County’s Lower Meramec Park. The distance between the trailheads is two miles.

Much of this trail passes through forested bottomlands with such trees as Pin Oaks and Pecans. Over one half of the larger trees were lost here in the 1993 flood when water covered this area to a depth of eight feet for five weeks. The trail provides good vistas of the Meramec River where wildlife such as herons, geese and eagles  are frequently observed.

Wetland areas are common in this park. The Tall Timbers Trail is an interpretive trail connected to the Meramec Greenway Trail. It loops through a swamp habitat.
