To reach the Sherman Beach Trailhead drive south from Manchester Road on Kiefer Creek Road. Turn right (south) on St. Paul Road, following it into the Meramec River Valley. The entrance to Sherman Beach Park is on the left. Water and restrooms are not available at this trailhead. Sherman Beach is managed by St. Louis County, and the Cedar Bluff Unit of Castlewood State Park is managed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
From the Sherman Beach Trailhead to the east the Meramec Greenway Trail is two miles long. It links with the Stinging Nettle Trail that loops back to the Trailhead. The Stinging Nettle Trail follows the riverbank. These trails pass through bottomland forests with such trees as cottonwood and willow. Linking off of the Meramec Greenway Trail is the Cedar Bluff Trail in Castlewood Park. It loops through upland forests where deer and turkey are often observed.
From the Sherman Beach Trailhead the Meramec Greenway Trail goes west for 2.5 miles to the Glencoe Trailhead.
