MERAMEC WATERSHED CELEBRATION

You are invited to help celebrate the restoration of the Meramec River in an all day (10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) fun event at Meramec State Park's Shelter #2.  Activities include canoe races, a poling workshop, nature programs, a tube float and raffle.  Bring a covered dish for the potluck BBQ lunch.  For information call 636-451-6090.

MERAMEC RIVER EXPEDITION

Here is an excellent program to experience the Meramec Greenway.  Following a picnic lunch, participants will hike a 2 1/2 mile section of the Meramec Greenway Trail, then continue their journey floating the river by canoe for a five mile stretch.  This event is from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Castlewood area.  For information and reservations, call 636-451-6090.

PADDLE DAY AT SIMPSON PARK

A fun day at Simpson Park Lake to learn paddling skills and watercraft control.  Canoes and kayaks are provided.  Explore the lake and participate in some great games from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  For information call 314-962-7715.

OPERATION CLEAN STREAM

The final weekend of August is when citizen's can directly contribute to the ongoing renaissance of the Meramec River.  Individuals, families and organizations can volunter to continue the removal of trash and litter from the river and it's banks.  Hard work is rewarded by fun gatherings with food and drinks at several locations.  For information and to volunteer call 636-451-6090.
